| RSS stands
for Really Simple Syndication. So, I'll try to keep this
really simple.
Using an RSS reader you can get news feeds sent directly to your
computer from many different sources including VA Watchdog dot Org.
You have
probably seen RSS and XML buttons on web sites. This means the
information is available to you as a feed. The information
comes to you as published...you don't have to go searching for it.
XML buttons
look like this
... and
RSS buttons look the same. (XML is the language in which RSS
feeds are written.)
There are
many RSS readers (or aggregators) on the market. The best are
FREE. Do NOT pay for an RSS reader.
Go to this
page for a good selection of RSS readers...

It is
easiest to install and RSS reader in your browser...Firefox,
Internet Explorer, etc.
When you see
an XML or RSS button on a feed to which you want to subscribe, put
your cursor on the button, right click and save the link location,
also known as a shortcut. Then you can copy it directly into
your RSS reader and you are subscribed to the feed.
Also, the
actual addresses of the feeds are listed below:
Daily News
Flashes ... http://www.vawatchdog.org/feed2.xml
House CVA News ...
http://www.vawatchdog.org/housefeed.xml
Senate CVA News ...
http://www.vawatchdog.org/senatefeed.xml
VA Press Releases ...

It really is
that simple. In the box below are the feeds we offer.
A personal
recommendation...because I use them. Make Firefox your
browser. It is faster, smoother and safer. For a free
download, just click the button in the upper left corner of this
page.
Once you
have those loaded and set up...you will find a number of free RSS
readers on the "Extensions" pages at the Mozilla web site.
My favorite RSS reader is SAGE...and, it's free.
Now you can
read news from VA Watchdog dot Org to The New York Times and
everywhere in between. |
