PLEASE NOTE UPDATE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE

-------------------------

On Wednesday, December 9, 2009, the following was posted on the web site of the VA's Office of Inspector General (VAOIG):

Combined Assessment Program Review of the W.G. (Bill) Hefner VA Medical Center Salisbury, North Carolina -- Report Number 08-03078-44, 12/9/2009 | Summary | Report (PDF)

By clicking the Summary link, we find this:

The purpose of the review was to evaluate selected operations, focusing on patient care administration and quality management (QM). During the review, we also provided fraud and integrity awareness briefings to 408 employees. This review focused on six operational activities. The medical center complied with selected standards in the following three activities: (1) coordination of care, (2) medication management, and (3) QM. We identified improved care for patients with diabetes mellitus and improved access to care as organizational strengths. We made recommendations for improvements in the following three activities: Environment of care. Magnetic resonance imaging safety. Physician credentialing and privileging.

So, what gives?

Was the report ever posted?  Likely.

Was the report posted and then removed?  If so, why?

The Salisbury, NC VA has had its share of troubles.  And, Sen. Richard Burr (R-NC), is the Ranking Member on the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs.  Was this Burr's doing?

Or, did VA officials have something to do with this?

After five days ... there should be something there for the public to read ... that is, if the VA wants the public to read the report.
