McCAIN and OBAMA BOTH WANT THE VETERAN VOTE --

WHO WILL GET YOURS? -- A look at how they voted on

veterans' issues and what they have planned for the future.

McCain / Palin?  Or, Obama / Biden?

It's a decision we'll all have to make in November.

Both political parties want the veteran vote.

But, how did they vote for veterans?  And, what do they have planned for future of veterans?

We'll have some tools you can use on this page.

I should point out that VA Watchdog dot Org does not endorse any political candidate.  Our mission, at election time, is to provide information on the candidates and their votes / stances on veterans' issues.

Many VA Watchdog dot Org readers write to me and ask:  "Who should I vote for?"  My answer is simple:  "I'm not smart enough to tell you how to vote."  And, I mean that.  There is a well-known radio talk show host who says:  "You do the listening, we do the thinking."  How demeaning to tell the listeners that they aren't smart enough to think for themselves.  I firmly believe that VA Watchdog dot Org readers ARE smart enough to make a proper decision when voting for president.

Now, I'd like to point out some of the things from which I stay away.

First is headlines like this:  "CITY'S VETERANS SUPPORT SO-AND-SO."  What that headline should have said is:  "SOME OF THE CITY'S VETERANS SUPPORT SO-AND-SO."  These stories are generally inaccurate, misleading and mean very little.

Second is groups who are "AGAINST" a particular candidate.  Anyone can be "AGAINST" a candidate.  I want to know why you think I should vote "FOR" a particular candidate.  My suggestion is to disregard the "AGAINST" nonsense that oozes out of the Internet.

Also, many "FOR" and "AGAINST" groups are financed by political parties or political action committees and are not "Veterans' Groups" as we know them.  Article here...

We'll be posting news stories about the candidates as they deal with veterans' issue.  To find this information, plus information already in our archives, you can use the VA Watchdog search engine...

The best place to find information about the candidates and their voting records is Project Vote Smart...here...

Here are the candidate pages for...
