INDEPENDENCE DAY MESSAGE FROM VA WATCHDOG

DOT ORG -- "Always remember, it's Independence Day,

not just the Fourth of July."

 

 

Message below:

Call me old-fashioned.  But, when I grew up, this was Independence Day.  The date is the Fourth of July, but the Holiday is Independence Day.  Somewhere between then and now, we seem to have misplaced that concept.

We wave the flag, but do we take the time to tell our children and grandchildren of the epic struggle to form this great nation?  Too often not.

My wish for today is that we never forget the sacrifices made 231 years ago.

Always remember, it's Independence Day, not just the Fourth of July.
