DEMOCRATIC PRESS RELEASE December 19, 2007 House of Representatives Passes Legislation to
Modernize the VA Medical Center in Atlanta
Washington, D.C. – House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs Chairman Bob Filner (D-CA) announced today that the House of Representatives passed S. 1396, a bill to modernize the inpatient wards at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia. The legislation authorizes $20.5 million to complete the upgrades.
“This renovation project will go a long way to
address the Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility requirements,
the needs of women veterans and the improvements in efficient functional
design,” said Chairman Filner. “These infrastructure improvements to
utility systems will include the plumbing, electrical, fire and safety
concerns on the inpatient floors.” -------------------------
